To Forgive

owl_turning_away

Trespasses against me
not forgotten easily,
the hell, is waiting
at my door.

I asked, to be set free
from this, stale misery
Now, here you are…
back for more.

It only takes a minute
to remember what you’ve done.
It only takes a minute
and I’m on my way, I run.

I try and try
with all my might
to stay and fight
the good fight, but…

It only takes a minute
to remember and I’m gone.

Look what I’ve lost,
look what I’ve missed
life’s too short
for all of this.

Yes, life is short
there’s no doubt
that the both of us
are missing out.

If I say anything, at all now
no matter how, it comes out
you’re surely bound to set,
me on fire.

Do I dare, even try
to explain, or sympathize.
By the way, why do I
even care.

It only takes a minute
to remember what you’ve done.
It only takes a minute
and I’m on my way, I run.

I try and try
with all my might
to stay and fight
the good fight, but…

It only takes a minute
to remember and I’m gone.

  1. Such beautiful words. It’s so easy to remember all the bad that was done to us, even in a moment of happiness. One simple poisonous memory can make us want to leave in an instant.

  2. Thank you Jen. It is absolutely so easy to remember the bad and forgiveness is so difficult sometimes. I still believe it is the best thing for inner peace. Writing this one gave me an outlet so that I do not say the words out loud. Forgive and forget are indeed totally different ;).
